We are proud to announce that we are now providing hosting services for so many websites, and using so much bandwidth, that we have been offered our very own dedicated server.
Currently, we own a segment of a server that is shared with other businesses and individuals. While this arrangement works well, we are now going to make the change to a server that holds only our websites. This means that we'll have more processing power, extra space and increased bandwidth for all of the sites we host, should they need them.
This transition doesn't directly affect our clients. There is no extra cost associated with the new server, and you don't have to go through the hassle of changing your name servers or A records.
However, there will be some downtime while the migration occurs. We weighed up the pros and cons of having the downtime vs. everyone having to change their records again, and unanimously concluded that it would be better to go offline.
The whole process should take approximately one hour, and we're thinking of commencing it on a Sunday morning, a time when internet traffic (especially commercial browsing) is at its lowest. The preliminary scheduled date is Sunday the 10th of November, with an exact time to be determined.
We'll be keeping all of our clients updated about any decisions made in regards to the timing of the migration. To check the status of the server, log in to your account using the User Support system on our website. In the bottom corner, beneath the Issue Menu and User Login, you'll see the Server Status menu. This is where we'll be posting our plans for the transition to the new server, including the dates and times that we plan to be offline for and any other prudent information.
If you have any questions about the migration, or would prefer us to make the change at a different time, you can get in touch through our User Support system. If you have any other questions or comments feel free to browse through our Contact page, Facebook, Twitter and Google+ pages!
